SEMEX - HOLSTEIN AUSTRALIA ON-FARM COMPETITION
The Semex Holstein Australia On-Farm Competition is the largest dairy livestock judging competition in Australia, attracting about 2,500 entries from 300 breeders each year.
The competition differs from conventional livestock judging events in that cattle are assessed for their inherent structural correctness using a specially-developed linear score sheet, without grooming, photography or showing. This format means all breeders can compete against the best in their region or State on an equal basis.
Separate competitions are conducted in each Holstein Australia Sub-Branch throughout October and November. These competitions are then over-judged for selection of overall competition Champions and placegetters: Northern Victoria, Western Victoria, Gippsland, NSW, Southern Queensland, Northern Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania.
